Eco-friendly footwear has never had particularly stylish associations, but with such rapid development in the fashion industry, long gone are the days of thin canvas plimsoles as a Vegan alternative. In fact, ethical shoes are no longer an alternative at all. Whether you’re looking for a pair of non-leather trainers, or a court shoe worthy of Fash Rev’s seal of approval, we’ve rounded up five of our favourite brands championing the sustainable movement, and encouraging it on a far-reaching level.
Sustainability level: A large selection of their shoes are Vegan, and Veja use raw materials sourced from organic farming and ecological agriculture, without chemicals or polluting processes.
Sustainability level: Made in LA, Rafa transcend trend to encourage slow fashion and their local craftsmanship uses ecologically friendly materials.
Sustainability level: High fashion’s answer to sustainability, Stella’s collections are Vegan and trend led.
Sustainability level: Everlane build a relationship with the factories producing their clothing and footwear, reaching a score of 90 or above in every location.
Matt and Nat
Sustainability level: Leather-free, Matt and Nat use materials such as recycled nylon, cork and rubber.
